Dessert is a Family Tradition
Most members of my Dad’s side of the family share common traits such as: a close bond with wine and/or beer, being a clean freak, and following sports (the men) or fashion trends (the women). I didn’t get any of those genes. Instead, I share with them an intense love for food and laughter… especially when dessert is involved.
My Dad is up visiting from Georgia so we had dinner with him and my grandparents over the weekend. It was a small Italian place with delicious, fresh, made-to-order food. J-slice got a chocolate lava cake that was so gooey and rich and of course, overflowing with delicious chocolate. Good thing we are teaching him to improve his sharing skills :)
Apparently he likes to share a little too much because he photobombed this pic of my Grandpa, (me), Grandma, and Dad.
Just like J-slice invited me to take a bite of his lava cake, I invited him to join the photo. John too… because I’m generous like that.
By the way, part of my 13 in 2013 is to visit my grandparents monthly. I didn’t exactly check that off the February list :( BUT I’ve got a second visit scheduled for March so seeing them twice in one month makes up for last month, right?!
So friends… who looks like who? I think my Dad looks like both of his parents, I look like none of ‘em, and J-slice looks like me. Odd, right?!
Are your grandparents still lively and spirited? How often do you see them? What fun things did you do over the weekend??

ha you’re right, they should! They do get the VIP treatment: a table was reserved for us (even though the restaurant doesn’t do that!) and the owners/cooks visit them. They’re famous!
